Yeap - Things aren't going a good direction with the timber companies that lease land to wildlife & fisheries becoming increasingly greedy. We lost one entire WMA this year and a pretty good piece of Jackson Bienville.

That sucks! I fear such practices may become an unfortunate (for us) trend.

It's certainly looking that way. It's incredible what people will pay for terrible hunting land just so they can keep other people out.
We have some family land adjacent to a large tract of timber company property that used to be one large club we all belonged to. About 10yrs ago they broke it into small parcels and put it out for bid. Some people from Texas put in a bid that was I believe over $20/acre for the tract next to us which holds a few deer, but it's swamp that's been clear cut and very hard to hunt. It probably should've been closer to $10/acre, but what do you do?
