I do most of My filming and hunting shots 20 yards or less. I hunt with Long bow or recurve.

I practice for shots@ 65 yds. with my compound, 25 yds. max with my recurve. Distance shots are personal. You should only take a shot at a distance you are comfortable taking. If you can pinwheel them in at 30 yds. great. If you can only group your arrows accurately at 17 yds. then that should be your max range.

For me, 40 yards with my Mathews, and 20-25 with the recurve.

I limit myself to 25 yards with the compound.I took a shot at 32 on a buck a number of years ago.The animal was calm and unaware of my presence.

He heard the bow,and by the time the arrow reached him,he had completed a 180 degree turn to head back the way he came.Fortunately for me,the arrow impacted perfectly, with the exception of it being on the opposite side I had shot at,but it could have been a disaster.

They move quick.

They do move quick and that's amazing especially since you were shooting a compound!

Yes, the title SlowBow was earned. Think it was a Hoyt, with big old heavy arrows, when I shot it through a chrono it clocked at a whopping 212fps.

It was a nice little buck though. A six point that looked more like an 8,all six were long tines,he had no brow tines. He was also in full velvet. Still have him on my wall.

I like em to be slam dunks. I have only killed a couple deer over 20 yards. Most of my kills are within 10 yards.
