I use Stone and mainly cut on contact, I'm going to try and make a bone broad head over the summer and see how I like it. Glass is another one I want to try and make as well as use.. This way if I can make good points it will cut down on buying them and I will know 100% that they are MADE IN THE USA

P.S. I forgot to mark the trad points, Will be making some arrows with a few of them too some time this year.. It won't let me revote for them.

I use the NAP Thunderhead 125's.
I don't trust mechanical heads, and the TH's have always worked great for me.

I just saw an article in one of the newest magazines about getting better penetration with flint.

"Saxton Pope of Pope and Young fame once tested the penetration of steel vs flint broadheads. His target was a box filled with bovine liver that had fresh deerskin tacked in the front and back.

At a distance of 10 yds, he repeatedly shot test arrows into the target with a "weak bow". The arrows were identical.

The steel broadhead uniformly penetrated 22 inches, while the flint-headed arrow had 30 inches of penetration"

I have been and am currently shooting the Simmons Landshark 160 gr. Been shooting them for 12 yrs and see no reason to change. They get the job done.

Well shoot, now I can't find it. It may have been in one of the magazines where I get the oil changed . . .
The magazine has about a 10-15 page traditional-only section and there was about a half page or so.
I've looked through every one of my mags here at home and it's nowhere to be found.

OK, found it. Not in a new magazine, and not really even an article . . . Just a couple paragraphs.
It's the "Bowhunting World" Annual 2011 issue, pg. 42.
It says: "Saxton Pope of Pope & Young once tested the penetration of steel vs. flint broadheads. His target was a box filled with bovine liver that had fresh deerskin tacked in the front and the back.
At a distance of 10 yards, he repeatedly shot test arrows into the target with a 'weak bow.' The arrows were identical.

WOW . . .
Sorry, I totally missed your post above.
I saw the quote, and I thought you were quoting a previous post and just overlooked it.

I use 135 gn bear heads.I do not sharpen on a stone . a razor sharp head dulls vary fast on hollow hair. I use a file edge.Think of it like a paper cut. When you cut your self shavin you can stop it with a little tp but a paper cut with the micro ber edge bleeds fore ever and dose not dull at all.

Years ago my brother and I were in a motel room and my brother was putting together his Savoy broad head. He slipped and cut his finger open. We taped it up as best we could and the next morning we couldn't find the cut.
Right now I use a mechanical but want to go to a cut on contact head. I shoot a 70# compound and don't get good penetration with the mechanical. I'm thinking on the Simmons Land Shark.

Carbon Express TriLoc Pros. Picked up 6 for appx $46 and have yet to use them in the field. Classified as cut-on-contact, but the leading edges aren't from the blades scratch
