D.Y.I. Mirror Blind Costs $12 to Make (Ghostblind knock-off)
Made this a few days ago. The real thing costs $200, but this lil DIY model cost me $12. Bought 8 10x14 mirrors from my local dollar store for a buck a piece. Then a heavy duty moving box fom Lowe's fro $1.69 and a tube of glue for a small glue gun for $1.89. I cut the box in half at the factory seam and glued the mirrors to it. It's about 56" x 23", nice little blind for low-pro ground hunting. I suppose I could make it another section larger too if I wanted, but I like it smaller like this. The bottom few inches of brown cardboard still shows but I figure that'll be kinda in the dirt n leaves anyway.

Not for me. I've always harbored a bit of fear about those blinds. They offer such a perfect view of the woods that they may be overlooked by a hunter in a hurry to take a shot. I feel the same way about them as I do about the oversized turkey fan thing you hide behind and stalk up on turkeys in fields. I guess that's bound to happen when you hunt public lands and almost get shot even though your dressed like the great pumpkin in blaze orange. Besides, you drop the thing while your transporting it in or out, and there's that seven years of bad luck to contend with!

Yeah honestly they aren't for me either. I had this idea like 20 years ago but never tried to make one, then just a few years ago BAM! someone else made one and is making a living off it. So then I really only bought the real GhostBlind to try it out. If you read my post from awhile back you'll see that I don't like it. Too heavy, cumbersome, and yes as you stated, potentially dangerous. I only made the DIY version for fun and posted it in case anyone may wanna try the $12 version out before investing $200 in a brand named one. I'm funny that way, I'll see something and tell myself "I bet I could make that" and then I do. And yes I'm with you, nobody wants 7 years of bad luck bowhunting! LOL
