Strap on step
Here is a strap on step I made from sch 80 2 1/2 pipe. My plan is to put 3 steps on one strap & use as a footrest with the G.Web. Total weight for steps & strap is about a lb.

Re: Strap on step
I've been trying to find way to do the same thing. I'll have to try this out.

Re: Strap on step
These are just like climb paws. My experience with having more than one on a strap is that since the steps 'seat' by angular pressure biting into the tree, that pressuring the other side of the strap by stepping down on a step on the other side of the same strap 'unseats' one of the steps unless you stay completely balanced. Even then it is tricky. This is not a huge deal but it ends up making a lot of unwanted noise as the paws seat and unseat on the bark.
I recommend one strap per step and only using two steps total. I use the Web as well and really doing a 180 is all you need to cover 360 around the tree. Let me know how these work out for you

Re: Strap on step
What if you use a ratchet strap instead of the gripper type?

Re: Strap on step
Tested out two steps on one strap today & worked good. They may loosen after a few hours of use but this may also happen with one per strap. These 2 1/2 steps are smaller than the climb paws & seem to bit better.
Spauldo how are you climbing? Today I practiced shooting using my rock climbing harness & lone wolf stick. Sure seems the stick will be in the way when using the web.

Re: Strap on step
Cbigbear, if you dont mind me asking what were the angles you cut for the steps? About how long of straps did you make. Thanks

Don't remember the angles, but I'll find one tomorrow & measure. I used some straps off some steel ladder sticks. I guessing there about 4'.

Re: Strap on step
You sure that pvc will support you weight after cutting into it to thread the strap through? I'd be a little worried that it could crack and toss me off the tree.
Re: Strap on step
Slowbow I'm not using it to climb just as footrest with the web.

Sch 80 will not crack. I use it at work on a daily basis. It's some tough stuff!
