If you have an interest in Maryland Hunting, there is a bill that you should support. While most of the legislation this year is in regards to hunting Private land on Sundays, one bill could have a beneficial impact on those that hunt public ground. It reduces the archery safety zone to 50 yards (currently 150) the distance you must be from an dwelling or structure before you may legally hunt.

This could have a HUGE impact, if you are familiar with Maryland, you know there is a large public bowhunting only area in Carroll County.

The legislation and bill numbers are found here

http://mlis.state.md.us/2012rs/billfile/hb0134.htm

and the companion bill in the State Senate

http://mlis.state.md.us/2012rs/billfile/sb0662.htm

Reduction in the archery safe zone would allow hunters to hunt much closer to the boundaries of the public land, typically where pressured deer were found. There is no reason not to reduce these zones for bowhunting.

If you have or may find your interested in hunting Maryland Public Grounds in the future,or are a Maryland Hunter who would like to help improve please contact the Maryland General Assembly at this link.

If you require help determining who to contact, please be sure to post up and I`ll be happy to assist you.
