I like the idea, so are we to use this method everytime we set up on public land?

The only issue I would have is the extra time involved in going up and down and up and down to set these pretty colored markers. It concerns me if I am hunting a nice buck, do i take them down when I leave so that other hunters on PL do not see them?

Also, I shoot insticntive, will this effect my 'draw-anchor-release' honed skills? I can see the advantage for pin shooters, and having a stand on private land....come to think of it I don't ever recall that we used a range finder or even owned any for that matter......

Just asking.....

most people do not consider carrying a small rangefinder a problem and it is very mobile. Stands that you hunt often you will soon memorize the yardage spots soon enough anyway.

I personally use both. You could try the markers on your more popular stands/spots. Fairchaser is right also, you soon get those spots in your head. I can also see how the markers could give you a more educated feel for an area that your in alot. Something to sit around and look at with or w/out your a range finder. Never know when you will have a shot that may give you only short seconds to visualize and get a shot off.
