D.I.Y Velcro Arrow Rest
I bought this take down longbow from a local bowyer, and he told me that he used velcro for his arrow rests. When it came time for a new one, I went to wal-mart and bought some velcro to replace the worn arrow rest. Pictures of the process below.

Remove worn rest.

Place velcro on shelf and trace.

Cut out velcro.

Place velcro on shelf... Finished product.

That looks easy enough!
What are the benefits of Velcro over other materials?
I love Walmart! We were there yesterday and I picked up some automotive sandpaper to sharpen knives and broadheads with. $3.97 for 5 sheets. Automotive sandpaper seems to last a while longer than that made for wood.
Anyway my better half uses a very fine "sandpaper" to expholiate her face and it costs almost $10 a sheet. We just picked up 5 sheets of 2000 grit for less than four bucks! Same stuff! Hahaha true story!

The bowyer that I bought from uses Velcro, I'm not sure exactly why. The reason that I would think is that it's more cost effective, still works when wet, and you can get it at several different stores. It was an easy fix, but I don't know if it is better than other materials because its all I've shot. And good job on the sandpaper!

Velcro is quiet, cheap and lasts forever. You'll wear out your bow before you will wear out the velcro rest/side plate.
You cut it to fit your bow of course. Tip - once you peel off the backing and put it in place, give it 24 hours to set completely.
Guaranteed it's not coming off. BTW I also make my own knocking points from dental floss. I put a dab of Crazy Glue just to harden the floss and keep it from ever unraveling.
