Youth/Liberty Hunt September 19 & 20
Taking my two youngins out next weekend for the Youth/Liberty Hunt here in Michigan. They'll be using archery gear only. Put a pop-up out for them about 10 days ago and brushed it in good. Got trails going past all sides of the blind. I don't know who's more excited, them or me! If there's a kill made I'll hopefully be posting a video of it following next weekend.

Re: Youth/Liberty Hunt September 19 & 20
Well, unfortunately no deer were taken by my kiddos this weekend. However, I got to spend hours in the woods with my two awesome kids doing what I love to do. We had 4 hunts and saw deer each time we hunted, with the fewest in one sit being just 1 deer, and the most being 18 in one sit.
This morning we had 4 bucks come in all at once, a spike, a 4pt, an 8pt and one I couldn't make out. I had to make a tough call, let my son who has already taken a buck wait and possibly take the handsome 8 pointer, or let my daughter who has never taken a deer try for the 4 pointer who was going to make for an easier shot.... I chose the later of the two. And as it turned out neither deer ended up presenting a shot anyway.
And after a weekend of hunting, we came out of the woods tonight with no pictures to take to the local paper and no kill shot videos to post on youtube. Just a bag full of empty candy wrappers, two dead-battery-havin iPads, and hours of memories and time well spent. Best weekend ever.
