New guy to the forum. I hunt nothing but public land in Ky and I've not had much success with trail cameras. My goal this year (other than taking a nice public land buck) is to find a good technique that will allow me to take a decent inventory of the deer on the wma's I'm hunting. The only method that I've had some success with is placing camera's on scrapes, but I would like to find something that would work earlier into the season. Would mock scrapes work in Aug and Sep? What other methods have you guys found that seem to work for you?

Welcome to the forum. A mock scrape might be productive. Something I like to do is set a camera up where trails come together, the more the better. Also I love well used creek crossings. I like to leave the camera for 2 weeks before checking it.  I know a guy that did a trail cam camo video that is a handy tip for public land Wink .
