I really like the Bear bows, I've shot this one and the PSE Rally. Personally, I find the Rally to be on the heavy side especially if you've got a pretty rough hike ahead of you.

My brother bought his girlfriend a mission craze, i shot it and it is a pretty sweet little bow. also i think it is adjustable from like 35-75lbs on draw weight to fit andbody also draw length is super adjustable to. and fast as grease lightnin it was shootin in the 280's set on like 45 lbs ( iknow not that fast but fas for tha draw weight) its a pretty bad news little bow. It would be a good present for a woman or child, or for tha price anybody. ma brother paid about $275 for tha one he bought, it comes in a bunch of different colors to. tha one he bought her was pink!!!! a pink bow can u baleeeve it!! When I was looking at bows last year I was a little interested in that one - thinking I could get my wife to shoot it down the line, but couldn't find anybody with one in stock to shoot. How's the finish on it?

I'm thinking serious about going Trad. Any recommendations for a beginner Trad bow under $300?

For a beginner trad bow i Recomend a quinn stallion. I think you can still get them brand new but dont know how to get in touch with them. but you can go to these trad forums and start checking stuff for sell or maybe post that you are looking for one. They are excelent shooting bows and i love mine plus you can usually find one for under $300 easy, hope this helps. Smile

Find or ask a trad friend that lives close, I wouldn't spend more that 100$ on a used one, and 250$ new, then when you feel that it may be the way to go then fork the big bucks for a more pricey one. bow season is over-or all most over in most states and many will be putting theirs up for sale.....[trad bows are not like guns-they require a little more tlc]

breaking the compound contraptions will be the toughest thing to get over, it is like starting to walk anew. you will keep looking for the peep and the pin - for a whle at least.

here's the break-down in quick grasping:

most compound shooters I know shoot 30"@60-75# w/65% letoff.
most trad bows are: 53-55#@28"[anything else is close to custom made]

reality: they can hold their letoff for about 30secs(+/-), trad guys do good to hold for 10secs[i practice to hold at least 20] so when a trad guy has a 30"draw he is really holding close to 60# for 10-20secs ------big difference then 65%letoff for 30secs.

hope this helps....

yes very helpful, thanks. I might give it one more year with the compound before I switch over. I just wont have the time this offseason to practice.

should you want to go trad, purchase, loan, a bow to your liking, then start in the early spring. Use a well rounded and large target - hehehe - you will probably hit a few and miss many.

Practice practice practice, once you re-establish an anchor point then the rest will become to being "natural". I started w/trad so its pretty natural....

hope this helps...
