Where are some of the best places for a beginner to start. And do you know where I could meet someone to team up with and hunt.

1- Where do you live?
2- There's nothing wrong with having a hunting buddy, but become self reliant too. Just in case.
3- Do you have any public land in your area, that you have scouted/hunted before?
4- http://mapper.acme.com/
Start your scouting sessions from the comfort of your home, with an online map. Survey possible "A.O.I.'s (areas of interest), and make notes. This great way to maximize your scouting time.
5- You can call me, anytime, we will get you setup! 304-590-5623
Sometimes it's easier to talk than try to type stuff.

Trout,
Your best bet with your location would be to hunt the Sam Houston National Forest. This is my 3rd season hunting there. lots of areas to hunt and they have two bow-only areas.
There is a forum on Texasbowhunters.com where alot of us communicate about hunting the SHNF. I live about 20 minutes from the SHNF so if you want to meet up to scout some time let me know.

Where is the Sam National forest located? I'm stationed in San Antonio, TX. Do they have turkeys?
