IT'S HERE!!!!
OMG, I'm not ready! I missed opening weekend, and I even had it off. A pre-planned fishing trip that was cemented before the State gave us an earlier opener. I've only just tuned the broadheads, and having only shot them once, I want another round to make sure they are dead on. Hard to do working until dark every day.
I have not broken my gear out yet, and my license is still tucked away in "the box" where I put it a few weeks ago so I would not forget where it was at. So much to do, and no time to do it with work eating up all my time.
Really stinks, we just had a good break int he heat and it was only in the 70's here with a nice NW wind that would have fit several stand sites I have picked out.

Whoa, already opening day by you? Cool! I know what you mean about not being ready. This year, I'm real nervous for some reason. Maybe its the fact that I added some tough goals such as 3 deer and lots of public land hunting. Maybe its the fact that in New York, the opening day is now 2 weeks earlier being Oct 1st. I feel the rush also. Its okay though, just take it easy. Get your stuff together, and just get out there and have a great time! Looking forward to hearing updates from you.

Well, I'm starting to put it together. Went back out to the block, and all 5 broadheads were drilling a 4 inch piece of paper at 25 yards, so I switched out the dull blades and put in the sharpies.
Got to change the belts on my climber, and then I'll be ready to dig out the knife I probably should sharpen, and stir up the rest of the various gear for my pack.
Really should get out there as soon as possible. We all know the public land can be really great the first few weeks before the deer catch on,and I have a video all but complete, except for the kill at the end
I also want to get behind my wife on the private land and film her as well. We've been working on a video lead in over the summer for that.
Not to mention I wouldn't mind taking a few does over the corn pile out there myself...wouldn't hurt to qualify for a bonus buck tag, and I need two does to do that.

Re: IT'S HERE!!!!
I rushed up after work today, and after a hurried hike and way too much noise climbing up I got settled in about 18:00. Saw all of 3 squirrels but man did it feel good to be back on stand.

I do things a lot different than you all.
As soon as season go's out I start geting my sites set up all over getting ready for the following year. Do my scouting now set up new sites. So when the times comes next year. When I walk out on my back deck. Check the wind I know where I'm going and depending on the time of year what site I'm going to.
I do'nt pressure my areas at all durning season. Walk in with the wind have the wind in my favor while I'm there and when I leave. I don't check out the area after I hunt or move here or there. Beleive in you scouting. Each time I hunt a site I have a plan and I stick to it.
The winter also the time I run camera's off small bait piles to see what made it through the season. I differenty do'nt do it all summer or now. All your doing it letting your bucks know somethings up. I never add any unneeded pressure on my bucks at any time.
I stump shoot all WINTER,SPRING even walking from those morning gobbler hunts and right on through the SUMMER right up to OCT 1 ST.
In 40 plus years I've never felt ready. It always takes me a week to get into the ZONE.
I truely love all parts of the getting ready. Not just the scouting, shooting but also all the makeing bows, arrows tradepoints and everything else that go's along hunting with selfbows. You guys that wait untill a week or so before seasons sure missing out on the best part.
If your so stress for time maybe you need to take up another hobby.
I don't conceder buck hunting a hobby.
