Well, I choked on a decent buck today with the recurve. Used some advice I got on this site, and picked a new spot by the topo map of the state land I am hunting. Deer seemed to act natural, not pressured at all. But my question is, should I lay off that spot, or hunt it again next chance I get? Deer ran about 30yrds when I missed, looked around a bit, then went on its way. Do not think it ever knew I was around, just spooked from the arrow zipping under it. Two does came by about an hour later from antother direction, they walked by with out a care in the world. So, hunt it again tomorrow if the wind is right, or lay off a bit?

Have not had a chance to get back in the woods yet, but thanks for the replies. Just for the sake of schooling me, if those deer would have seen me, and ran off with flags flying blowing like crazy, would it be best to let these deer settle down a few days before hunting them again?

If a buck had blown and ran off, yes I would let it rest.

They say the best time to hunt a buck is when he is there. We are talking public land deer here, and they have seen it all. Best advice I can give you would be to move fifty, sixty yards to a different tree along the same trail or in the same area, just in case he did catch a bit of movement. He might be a little suspicious, but I wouldn't back off just because of a miss, or even if I got busted, I'd just pick a different tree.
