Get out and scout

Everyone including me was talking about how slow their season was this year. Remember right now is one of the best times to get out and scout where they were under pressure. I was out today and will be out tomorrow. Just a reminder to get out and have fun scouting. Post up what you see. Good Luck!

Best time of year to not only look at some new territory, but to get into those suspect bedding areas and find out what is really happening back in that briar tangle you though the deer were bedded in this past season!

I just learned a new access into my hunting land last Saturday. I did not even know this place existed. That is the stuff I am talking about. To me new points on the GPS and figuring out the property is almost as fun as hunting.

Ha. I remember a long time ago, I was hunting a WMA for grouse, back before I bow hunted. Well, I was parking at this lot, and taking a fire road up this steep grade on foot past a locked gate. I wouldn't bump into birds until I had hiked and huffed and puffed up the side of this mountain for an hour or so. Used to have pretty good hunting up there. One day I was getting up top a little farther than normal, guess what I found. Yep, a road and parking lot on TOP of the mountain not on the map. So I wiped the egg off my face, and started parking up there.

Ive been out at it. Lord knows I need it. Squirrel season does good for Me, allows Me to scout like mentioned above, and a chance to get the Boy out with Me. And there's also the squirrel.
