Its not legal here in texas to take sheds or skeletons of deer on public land...

Interesting topic. It is not legal to do so in Maryland either. With the exception of obtaining a non-hunting possession tag from the DNR. I've heard horror stories of folks finding very large racks that were killed from unknown causes, an applying for that, only to have the racks confiscated by the NRP and not getting a tag to keep it. Even on Private property. Technically,here in Maryland, you can not posses deer or their parts without a tag, unless they were legally purchased items from deer legally harvested in another State, which is the only legal way to sell deer and their parts in Maryland.
