Re: Sam Houston National Forest
This will be the 3rd season I have hunted the Sam, I was just curious if there were any others on the forum that hunt it as well....

I know these are older posts, but my friends and I do.
I will bowhunt with my grandson next year... by the way does anyone know if it's legal for him to use his 40 lb bow? It's a recurve too.
I'd be willing to get him a new one, but he outshoots me with it up to 40 yards...(apologize too, don't mean to steal this thread)

Tom,
He can hunt with the 40lb bow, as there are not draw weight requirements for Texas. Have you had any luck in the Sam this year thus far?

Re: Sam Houston National Forest
I only saw a few does this year... never came close enough for me to feel comfortable to take a shot.
Your not going to find any big bucks there, unless you really get lucky.
I have seen a few guys with some really nice racks, but they're few and far between. Been hunting general sam for about the past 20 years. It's a short drive from my "wigwam", so I can make it for just a few hours if I want.
Heck,,,,, ur Conroe,,, ur closer than I am!!
