Southern Georgia And Florida Hog Hunting

Post by Dave Mullins on Mon Jan 02, 2012 6:34 pm

Hey folks,

This might sound like an advertisement, but not really. I just wanted to let you fellow archers know about a small hunting operation that my friend Jim Dussias and I call "True South Adventures".

We enjoy hog hunting in the land of "plenty" as much as anything, and just want to let you know we are always looking for fellow enthusiasts to come hunt with us. We lease hog rights to some pretty nice properties (4 at present) in both states.

Our goals are simple...meet and enjoy the company of good archers especially trad archers. Maybe trade a hunt with you?

Get in touch with me at irv.xpress@gmail.com and 1-608-516-8615 or Jim at jdussia1@earthlink.com or 305-766-2926.

Thanks,

man ive always wanted to go somewhere and get into a mess of hogs that people just wanted killed cuz they was tearin there place apart. Ive looked into payin for a hog hunt but a single hog would cost near 500 pendin the size. i just cant bring myself to pay that for 1 when we killed 35 or 40 in the 1st week of every december and dont cost but bout 260 apiece..(tame hogs not wild)...

Ive hoped i would just stumble across someone someday that had a huge disaster problem with them and ask me to come clean them out. That would be bow heaven.

Well, our situation isn't quite that nice...we do have to lease the land, but it isn't costing us too much...just corn and lease fees. We just like to keep it simple, and don't mind if a few other hunters help us whack a few hogs.

We have been looking for that completely free spot to go ourselves, and maybe someday that will happen. Can't hurt to put our heads together. shoot me an e-mail if you want to come down and try your luck...esp. if you have a hunt you could trade us for.

Give me a call some time, or e-mail at irv.xpress@gmail.com. We can work something out.

The largest hog we have shot here s far was 300#. Most are the real good eating size...around 100#.

Just to show that You need to shoot lower on hogs when using a bow. Also watch out for the shield so quartering away and little forward will do the trick.

We have some feral/ Russian hogs that got loose from a couple of game farms locally. My friend and I are going scouting to see if we can squewer a few as you can hunt them with any valid license (Michigan) and no bag limit. The trick is finding them. Here in Michigan, they are kdeemed an invasive specie and all game ranches must get rid of or destroy their stock by April I believe.
