Which Is Your Favorite Time Of Day To Hunt?
Early season I prefer mornings. Absolutely nothing like being present for the sunrise, and the sounds of the woods waking up! Now when November rolls around, it's daylight to dark as often as possible.

Nothing beats sitting on a hot oak tree in the evening.

I like evenings in the early season, mornings mid-season, and evenings again late season

All day whenever possible. All day is more clutch for me with hunters coming and going, they tend to push deer. I try to be on the ready when other hunters are on the move.

october - mid november: 30 min before daylight til about dinner (then back around 2:00 when possible). I usually will walk a long way to scout more this time of year and to get away from the weekend warriors, because 9 times out of ten regular joe aint goin far lest he can drive his 4 wheeler in there. December-end of January, pull all day sits when its conveniant. but when i hunt the rut I gooottta be in tha tree as soon and as long as possible, it differs from time to time:)

I voted for morning because I live to see the sun come up through the trees on a frosty morning, however, there is something to be said about an apple tree and being perched someplace close by on a late afternoon hunt!

I have been more successful on morning hunts but I still prefer the evening hunt. I love that last 30 minutes of light when the wind seems to die and you can hear that bucks breath as he approaches. But all in all I tend to make all day sits. I may switch stands from morning to evening but I rarely come back to camp or the truck. It's usually not worth making the long walk 4 times as opposed to just 2.

I think success seems better in the morning on public. Possibly because daytime activities puts enough scent on public that deer do not move as good in the evening (although I have seen a buck working a scrape while goose hunters were shooting less than 150 yards away). WI's pheasant season opens on a Saturday at noon. That is a great time to be in heavy cover along escape routes waiting for the deer pressured by pheasant hunters entering the field.
