Sponsor A Hunt loves to offer the most hunting information and opportunities available.
I would love to know more about public land hunting opportunities. I have to say, here in Alaska, you can hunt public land for years, as there are not alot of folks in my neck of the woods so the competition is slim. Alot of people pay alot of money for hunts in Alaska, but I recommend trying it yourself first. You will be surprised at the hunting stands on the public land, stands that were built many many many years back, and still functionable. I had the opportunity this year to tag along with my husband to the bear baiting station, it was a huge area, seemed almost untouched by humans, except of course the huge wooden tree/shooting house, that had been there for probably as long as I have been alive. If you get a chance, I would apply for a tag, come and scout the land and test the waters. Not sure if I would just bring a bow though, you might get eaten by a bear LOL.
We have hunted 2 areas within 60 miles of Fairbanks Alaska. We didn't have any luck as it started to snow on one location, and the other we just couldnt target the time when the bears were hitting the station. My husband only had a few weeks to hunt do to deployments. I will say that the moose come up in my backyard here, and are often right off the roads, the bears are a little harder to spot, but with enough time, I think Alaska is a great locations for a public land hunt.

I filmed this video, and that's my longbow Rick is holding. Of course I'm partial, but Obviously Rick Welch/Dakota Bows!
I built this too. (it was my first time 0 experience)

This is how that bow shoots.

For R/D Longbows we like Dick Robertsons w a locator grip - for purely traditional old school a Howard Hill Wesley 5 bamboo lams - for hybrids we like Silvertips and Dick Robertson - and for a flatbow we like Great Northern bushbow

Re: Sponsor A Hunt
Greetings and Welome to the Forum.
I am not sure I follow what it is you are after:
Are you wanting to hear of our knowledge for PLB;
-OR-
Are you inviting us to come to Fairbanks for a free 'sponsor'd' bear/moose/etc. hunt at your place?
As for the bow; mine{custom Take-down Recurve} was made by W. Miller [R.I.P.] close to 10+ yrs ago, it has served me well over the years. I have been searching for another that comes close but haven't found one yet.....my first recurve was a Fred Bear Gold Medallion Recurve, that I still have after many many years.
I owned a compound -once- for about two months, Miller had his shop at this time and when I returned it we got to talking and thats when the RC came about. We got some rather nice wood and cherry etc., and the riser is custom made to my specific grip, it's really cool I will have to take a pic.
anywho I digress....
