Do You Use Scents & Lures?
Re: Do You Use Scents & Lures?
I answered no, but it's mainly because of the way I hunt. I do the majority of my hunting over feed trees, and want the spot to remain as natural and undisturbed as possible. I want everything to seem the same as it did the last time they came in to feed.
Last year we had drought conditions that caused a general acorn failure. I did a great deal more hunting over funnels and flow areas last year than I ever have before, but never tried scents. I probably would if I had more confidence in it, but it's just not my area of expertise.

I have been using scents pretty regularly for 14 years without the slightest proof of them doing anything but scaring deer. I keep trying different scents and tactics hoping to find the silver bullet, but to no avail.

I am yes. I have been making lures for some time due to the fact that the right stuff works better than nothing if used properly. I am also the grandson of a man who made his living making lures for a trapping supply company.
I use only lures on my camera locations due to the fact that most states don't allow baiting on public land.

Yes I do use scents with mixed success. It's all about timing.
