Snake protection.....chaps/gaiters/boots......
Snakes are always a threat in my area, and if bitten it could take a while to get to a hospital. I currently use some snake chaps made by "Dan's Hunting Gear". I've luckily never been struck and I have worn them many times. They're hot in the summer but I'll take being hot over being snake bitten. Does anyone have any preferences in snake protection (chaps, gaiters, boots) and reasons why?

My son and I have both been struck by venemous snakes, me by a copperhead, and Michael by a timber rattler. Both cases were of stepping too closely to an unseen snake.
We wear snake boots, I like them because they provide ankle support in rocky terrain.

Boots for me too. I haven't been bitten but have come close. Lots of nasty snakes around here too.

I have been looking into this myself, I have had most of my "waterproof" snake boots leak in the past, and was looking into Lacrosse's new rubber snake boot($160) with good rating so far, I also saw online another boot (goodwins muck woody armour snake proof hip boot), $180 looks to be the same type chaps that are sewn onto the boot to make a waterproof hip wader that snake proof as well, if anyone has experience with either please share.
