Re: Welcome Military Public Land Bowhunters!!!!!
Is anyone aware of leases or special state sponsored hunts for disabled vets in Eastern Oklahoma? I currently hunt Cherokee GMA/PHA but am interested in broadening my hunting choices

Hunting Near Fort Wainwright Alaska
Hi Dave,
I am a veteran and my husband is an active duty soldier, as many know I deal with alot of outfitters, however, outfitter hunts are not exactly within a soldiers budget, nor do we know if we will be available to book a hunt due the military schedule. As a military family, we take advantage of the free hunting opportunities at each duty station, however it is hard to find the locations, and find anyone who know anything about the area. i am glad this forum is open. I would like to say if anyone is ever stationed at Fort Wainwright Alaska, there are many public land hunting opportunities here, if you go north on the Steese Highway up pass the White Mountain campground and pass that campground, there is an area available for hunting. We found a great resource at http://www.adfg.alaska.gov/index.cfm?adfg=huntingmaps.byspecies , if you are stationed here, go to this website, and find your locations to hunt by species, Hope this helps. I hope others will post their hunting locations near installations with the websites, so new soldiers coming to the area will have a place to start looking, as a military family we have an opportunity to hunt across the nation. I hope to have trophies from every state we are stationed.

Dave,
Great site. Happened upon your video on youtube. I too embrace the challenge and frustration of public land hunting...no other legitimate way to hunt in my humble opinion. Time to get back out in the field for more deer season on WMA lands outside Ft. Bragg, NC.

Been awhile since I posted, so busy, doesn't the Army know you are not supposed to schedule field problems during hunting season. LOL
On a serious note, I have lots of hunts I have been giving away to Veterans, you have to register on the Sponsor A Hunt website, these hunts are landowner hunts, FREE! WWW.SPONSORAHUNT.COM
In addition, I hunted the backside of Fort Carson, behind the hospital, great hunting location, not available for just anybody but for soldiers/veterans, was not over hunted. I would recommend checking it out.Hope all is well. Happy Hunting
