Waiting on draw results

Submitted my nonresident application for Iowa last week. With 3 preference points and putting in for Zone 3 I am fairly confident in being selected. All that remains is the notice of a successful draw which should come sometime in mid July. Counting the minutes....

Do you hunt public land in Iowa? What are the fees? I'm guessing no over the counter tags there.

No over the counter tags available in Iowa. Everything is lottery for non residents. Yes, I will be hunting public land. It is very expensive, but there is always a chance at a buck of a lifetime. I put in 3 years worth of preference points ($50/yr), then sent in my full license fee this year(so this has been a 4 yr wait) to attempt to get drawn....$551 plus convenience fee of $16 for doing it online. I pray it is all worth it.

I probably don't understand the system, but wouldn't you want to wait to see if your drawn before you buy the tags for $551 ?

Submitting your money is the only way to be drawn. If you aren't successful, you are refunded all money except for $50(price of a preference point).
